Neuss, 01st September 2011
New RL838 TVs and TL838/868 3D TVs feature Smart TV applications
Toshiba Europe GmbH presented two new TV ranges today. The RL838 series and the TL838 / 868 series TVs take up the main trends in the TV business – home network integration, web access and 3D TV – and make them available at a very reasonable price level. Toshiba’s new RL and TL series devices all feature SMART-TV, providing access to multimedia content over the web. Plus, the TL range features active shutter 3D technology to display content in high-quality 3D. The RL838 series and the TL838 / 868 series TVs will come in a choice of screen sizes. They will be available from September 2011 in Europe.
Smart TV – Web access on the best screen in the house
The new RL838 and TL838 / 868 TVs have everything onboard that is needed to use SMART-TV services: they feature a wide selection of interfaces such as USB, HDMI® and LAN and they are wireless ready via a WLAN USB dongle, which is available as an option. DLNA® certification ensures interoperability with other devices that support the specifications. HbbTV® (Hybrid broadcast broadband TV) services also can be accessed. HbbTV® is an open platform to seamlessly combine TV services delivered via broadcast with services delivered via broadband; amongst them the provisioning of additional information related to the TV programme or Catch-up TV. To complement the hybrid services, the RL838 and TL838 / 868 models offer easy access to value added services and content via Toshiba Places.
Access to quality content and services via Toshiba Places
With Toshiba Places, users can enjoy and share Web-based content and services - delivered by a provider they can trust - directly on a TV. And last but not least, via Social Place users can upload videos and photos to web platforms and easily share them with family and friends all over the world. It also offers access to Facebook™ to stay in contact with friends.
3D TV in the comfort of the living room
Moreover, the TL838 and TL868 series are ready to show 3D content on their 3D Full HD LED panel. They support the active shutter 3D technology to give users the best possible picture quality while watching 3D content. The panels are powered by Advanced Motion and Resolution (AMR) 200 with sophisticated backlight control to provide a smooth, fast flowing motion.
