Q: Network settings on TV or recorder side
I don’t know where to make the network settings on the device side
A: You must set [User Name] and [Password] in the TV’s network settings to enable the network connection.
【Setting Method】
[Menu] > [Setup] > [Preferences > [Network Device Setup] > [External Control Setup] > [User Name] and [Password]
Q: Home Network Connection
The registered device is not displayed
A: If the terminal (iPhone, etc.) and the compatible TV are on the same network, the device name is automatically displayed on the terminal, allowing you to register the TV.
If the registered device name is not displayed, it may be due to one or more of the following reasons. For details of how to change the settings, etc., refer to the instruction manual for the wireless LAN device or contact the device manufacturer.
If there are multiple systems, such as wireless LAN access point for main network, game console, etc., their respective settings may not allow them to communicate with each other. Disable the network separation mode to bring them onto the same network, or connect the terminal (iPhone, etc.) to whichever (SSID with password setting for main network) is capable of accessing the device connected to the wired LAN.
If the wireless LAN connection of the wireless LAN access point and the wired LAN connection are on different networks, change them so that the wireless LAN and wired LAN can be accessed on the same network.
Publicly shared wireless LAN to certain wireless LAN access points and home wireless LAN may have been set at the time of shipping from the factory, but they cannot communicate with each other. Connect to the SSID of whichever is capable of accessing the home device.
If the ADSL or optical modem has a built-in router function and the wireless LAN access point has a router function and this is used, the device on the wireless LAN side and the device with a higher-level connection will not be able to communicate with each other. The device on the wireless LAN side must be changed to bridge mode (to disable the router function).
Q: Only one registered device is displayed
A: This problem occurs when multiple devices are attached to the Ethernet converter. In multi-client mode where the mac address (for physically identifying each device) of the first device recognized by the Ethernet converter is used, other devices are not recognized. Operation can sometimes be normalized by changing to single-client mode, but in any event, multiple devices cannot be connected. You are recommended to add another wireless LAN access point and communicate between access points as WDS.
Q: The TV doesn’t turn on even though it supports power-on
A: If you have an Ethernet converter with multi-client mode and single-client mode and the former is enabled, it is possible to connect multiple devices, but only one mac address (for physically identifying each device) is used, and in actual fact, multiple devices are not recognized by Apps. The mac address is sometimes fixed to the first recognized device, and the command to turn on the power is not delivered and the TV does not work. In this case, it is necessary to switch to single-client mode and enable use of only one device. Depending on the device, however, it may still not turn on.
Q: I want to operate devices with the same name
A: To distinguish between devices with the same name, such as two TVs that support this function, you are recommended to change [Device Name] in the network device settings to, for example, [TOSHIBA-REGZA-A] and [TOSHIBA-REGZA-B].
【Setting Method】
[Menu] > [Setup] > [Preferences > [Network Device Setup] > [Device Name Setup] > [Device Name]
Be sure to register the correct combination of [TV User Name (Required)] and [TV Password (Required)] for each TV in the terminal.
