SOUND AND VISION IN PERFECT HARMONY
Flat-screen televisions offer a number of advantages over their cathode ray tube predecessors. But when it comes to sound, the slim-line design is something of a drawback. This is because speakers need space in order to generate a good sound.
However, this is not to say that a flat-screen television necessarily has to sound flat. The lack of space available in the TV can be compensated for by means of complex digital sound processing methods. Also, a separate active subwoofer is available on request and creates missing (sound) depth.
AUDYSSEY EQ™ – STATE-OF-THE-ART TECHNOLOGY FOR GREAT SOUND
The use of digital sound processing (DSP) improves speaker control in such a way that it compensates for the disadvantages associated with the fl at-screen TV design. Audyssey EQ™ not only matches the sound to the installed speakers, but also to the television's most typical location – the living room. During product development, Toshiba uses Audyssey EQ™ technology to run a whole range of calibration and optimisation procedures on its fl at-screen TVs. The system uses several hundred measuring points to correct the sound and optimise it to achieve a balanced, noticeably improved sound. For you, means a great sound everywhere in the living room, despite the small speaker size.
SOUND WITH REAL DEPTH
If you want a powerful bass sound, a separate subwoofer is an absolute must. But this doesn't mean that have to invest in a complete sound system. Many Toshiba TVs feature a subwoofer output where an active woofer is simply plugged in. This means you can give your TV's sound real depth with little effort and at a low cost.
